The desktop app (windows and mac) cannot parse the new data. The other cause, and that's what's affecting Quik, is that the encoding of the GPS data has changed in the Hero8. There are some things you can do to mitigate this: Better camera placement (never upside down, avoid objects on top of it, look for a location with fewer buildings.) and waiting for a while beffore hitting record, to maximise the chances of a good GPS fix. The precision threshold has changed over time and might still be different across different apps (mobile vs desktop).
